Health & Safety policy statement
Part 1: Statement of intent for MKP Ltd
Our health and safety policies are to:
- Carry out a suitable and sufficient assessment on the risks to health and safety of employees to which they are exposed whilst at work and externally, and to persons not in our employment in so far as they encounter the Company premises.
- Implement policies, organisational procedures, control measures and systems to monitor and review risks to provide a risk-controlled working environment.
- Provide the resources necessary to implement this policy.
- Periodically review these systems to ensure compliance.
To assist in achieving these aims, the Company recognises it has a responsibility to:
- Provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions by considering current legislation and appropriate advisory literature, using current best practices.
- Provide the necessary resources, information, instruction, training and supervision to enable employees to carry out their duties under this policy and to work safely and efficiently.
- Make available all necessary safety devices and protective clothing/equipment and ensure that they are to the appropriate standards and are worn/used.
- Provide safe systems of transport, storage and handling.
- Maintain a constant and continuing interest in health and safety matters applicable to the Company’s activities by consulting and involving employees as appropriate.
Part 2: Responsibilities for health and safety
Overall and final responsibility for health and safety: Company Directors
Day-to-day responsibility for ensuring this policy is up to date: Health & Safety Manager
Day-to-day responsibility for ensuring this policy is put into practice: Department Managers/Team Leaders
To ensure health and safety standards are maintained/improved, the following people have responsibility in the following areas:
Health & Safety – Implement and review all policies, risk assessments, procedures, and safe working procedures. Keep up to date with all current legislation and advise directors accordingly; emergency procedures, inductions, consulting with employees, fire and evacuation, EICR and electrical, accidents and ill health investigations, RIDDOR reporting, COSHH, health surveillance, facilities/contractors and maintaining equipment.
Department Managers – Understand and implement company safety policy, Risk Assessments, monitoring employees, supervision, general housekeeping, training and First Aid/Fire wardens. To ensure that all employees, visitors, contractors and young workers adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
Employees – Provide a safe personal work environment, adhere to all Health & Safety Policies on & off site, general housekeeping, follow instructions from management and perform all work in a safe manner.
The Company will ensure that employees at all levels within the Company are aware of their obligations under this policy with particular emphasis on the duty to take reasonable care of themselves and other persons who may be affected by their acts and omissions at work.
