MKP was established in 1985, but its roots go back to 1974 when Ryeland Toolmakers was established as a manufacturer of press-tools, jigs & fixtures. MKP evolved from Ryeland to supply components in high volume. Maine Office – Storage & Filing was acquired in 2006 and the Group now operates from two sites in Milton Keynes, occupying a floor space of 100,000 sq. ft. and servicing a wide variety of sectors.

Established Foundations (1985-Present)
Founded in 1985 as a family business, Milton Keynes Pressings (MKP) are renowned as leading precision engineering experts that have witnessed remarkable growth over three decades. Now employing a dedicated team of over 150 staff members, MKP serves an expansive range of sectors. This impressive expansion is rooted in our unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and innovative engineering and manufacturing solutions, all while remaining a competitive force in the global marketplace.

1974 — Ryeland Toolmakers Established.
Establishment of Ryeland Toolmakers, a press toolmaking facility based at the Old Mill in Stony Stratford.

1985 — Milton Keynes Pressings Created.
A small production facility was created and incorporated as Milton Keynes Pressings Ltd.

1987 — GM/ISUZU Supply Begins.
Supplier into GM/ISUZU at Luton, producing components for the MIDI Van.

1988 — Water Eaton Expansion.
MKP moved into a 10,000 sq ft unit on Water Eaton Trading Estate.

1990 — Quality Accreditation.
Achieved BS5750 Part 2 in June 1990, alongside the installation of the first large 250t press at MKP.

1996 — Accreditation achieved for QS9000.
A major milestone in quality performance at MKP – first of all GM pressing suppliers to attain this level.

1997 - Saab Seatback supply.
Contract awarded to supply Saab with vital components to support manufacture of their Pro-tech head restraint system – supply of 250,000 units per year.

1999 - Isuzu components supplied into Poland.
Initial manufacture on supply of Isuzu components for supply into Poland – 10 year agreement supplying 300,000 units per year.

2000 - Supply into the Luton IBC/Vauxhall plant.
Supply into the Luton IBC/Vauxhall plant for manufacture of the Vivaro van – over 1.5m vans to be manufactured at this plant over the next 20 years.

2001 - Awarded Queen's Award for Enterprise.
Recognised with the presitigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise – International Trade.

2003 - Acquisition of Cardale Engineering Ltd.
Acquisition of Cardale Engineering Ltd. MKP becomes approved supplier into Denso Marston.

2004 - Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence and Manufacturer of the Year
Acknowledged at the Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards with Manufacturer of the Year and Overall winner of Business Excellence.
Acquisition of Maine Office Ltd sheet metal facility.

2006 - Purchase of Maine Office assembly plant.
MKP solidified position as comprehensive supplier in Engineering sector – MKP awarded the CBM (Confederation of British Metalforming) ‘Company of The Year’.

2010 - Maine Office manufacturing facility relocation.
Relocation of Maine Office manufacturing to MKP site – including installation of powdercoat plant. Started supply into Aston Martin.

2012 - General Motors Supplier Quality Excellence Award.
Awarded the General Motors Supplier Quality Excellence Award.

2013 - Awarded project in partnership with TGW.
Awarded project in partnership with TGW to supply meatlwork trays for the British Library National Newspaper archive in Boston Spa.

2019 - Platinum Award for the Caterpillar Supplier Quality Excellence.
Achieved notable Platinum Award for the Caterpillar Supplier Quality Excellence Process – the highest accolade. MKP were the first ever Fabrication / Manufacturing supplier to achieve Platinum status within this scheme.

2020 - MKP supports COVID response with manufacture of Temporary Hospital beds
MKP supported Government response to COVID 19 by fabricating the steelwork for temporary hospital beds used by the NHS.

2023 - Neal Read promoted to MKP Managing Director.
Neal Read promoted to MKP Managing Director, with founder Mike Read becoming Executive Chairman.

2024 - MKP honoured among Caterpillars top 4% of global suppliers.
Accumulation of 9 consecutive years of Caterpillar SER accreditation.
