How Cyber Attack Exposes Fragility of UK Manufacturing
Milton Keynes Pressings warns of rising cybersecurity threats to Manufacturing and Supply Industries
As cyberattacks continue to plague UK industries, Milton Keynes Pressings (MKP), a trusted tier-one automotive component supplier, is sounding the alarm on the increasing threat hackers pose to major businesses like Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and logistics firm Knights of Old.
With ransomware attacks and data breaches becoming more sophisticated and targeted, MKP says the entire supply chain—from OEMs to logistics providers—is now under serious threat.
“Cybersecurity can no longer be treated as just an IT issue; it’s a business-critical risk,” said a spokesperson for Milton Keynes Pressings. “When large organisations like JLR are hit, the ripple effects impact everyone down the supply chain. Production schedules, logistics, and customer delivery timelines are all affected.”

Earlier this year, a cyberattack on Knights of Old reportedly caused major disruptions across its distribution network, delaying consignments for several manufacturers, including automotive and aerospace suppliers. Similarly, global carmaker JLR recently suffered a cyber breach that exposed vulnerabilities in its internal systems and sparked concern across the UK’s manufacturing sector.
MKP, which supplies pressed and welded components to leading automotive brands, said the knock-on effects of these attacks can be devastating. “One attack on a key logistics provider can shut down our outbound deliveries for days. Likewise, if a customer like JLR experiences a data breach or operational disruption, we may have to halt production due to a sudden change in demand or communication failure.”

The firm is now calling for tighter collaboration between manufacturers, logistics companies, and cybersecurity experts to bolster digital defences. “There needs to be a supply chain-wide approach to cyber resilience. If one link in the chain is exposed, we’re all exposed.”
Milton Keynes Pressings has recently upgraded its own digital infrastructure, investing in endpoint detection systems and employee cybersecurity training. However, the company believes collective action is key.
“The days of thinking cyberattacks only happen to banks or tech firms are over,” the spokesperson added. “The manufacturing and logistics industries are now prime targets—and we all need to be ready.”
